So I watched the Milo documentary that I stayed up late to download: “What Makes Milo Fly?”
And oh my friends, it was GLORIOUS STUFF. The music was suitably dramatic and cheesy, the narrator had a British accent, and Milo’s quadriceps were very defined. Hee hee hee.
Yes, the documentary was wonderful. Except for that nonsense about [...]

(Gosh, the gymnastics season is really picking up! I’m having a hard time keeping up with everything… ;) Remember Yekaterina Kramarenko? The girl who sadly balked on a vault at the 2007 World Championships and cost the Russian team a medal?

Kramarenko’s disaster, and Zamo’s “Morituri te salutant” salute. Massive heartbreak.
Well, she’s back! She broke her leg in [...]

Take a look at this picture:

I am sure many of you are thinking OMGWTF HOW DID SHE WIN ALL-AROUND SILVER SHE DID NOT DESERVE IT! And you know? I thought the same thing. I used to lump her with Shawn and Vanessa, both of whom I don’t prefer.
Until I got to know a little [...]

Recently, International Gymnast referred to Fabian Hambuechen (GER) as an “ambassador” of the sport of gymnastics. Which is very nice and all.
On the women’s side, however, I would nominate Verona van de Leur (NED).

She’s been Dutch national champion three times, and has had impressive results at the European Championships.

North Korea has a bad habit of screwing up their gymnast’s birthdays. Oh dear me, whatever shall we do. [/sarcasm] And since 1991 world champion Kim Gwang Suk (the poor thing was losing her baby teeth in Barcelona!), they haven’t gotten much better. Pooh.
Anyway, North Korea could only qualify two gymnasts to Beijing, despite their [...]

The USA has a gaping dearth in uneven bars, even though Nastia is one of the best bars workers in the world. Uneven bars was one of the events the USA could pack all the points in, and it still is, given the more generous scoring (as it appears to me).
Your Potential Uneven Bars People [...]

This montage about the 2007 Worlds Team (sans Bridget) introduced me to Norwegian Recycling, the nom de plume of a guy in Norway who basically melds several pop songs together into one whole.

…or she will be.
Blythe at the Gymblog seems pretty sure that Shawn Johnson is going to walk away with the 2008 Olympic all-around title, just as Carly Patterson did three years ago.
As someone who is rooting heavily for Nastia Liukin, I don’t want to be so sure. I want the competiton to still be up in the air. [...]

…because you can’t call them the Magnificent 7.
Today the Worlds team, including Bridget (who was wearing a gold medal too!) were interviewed on the Today Show. Duh.
Not much to report here…Shawn did say “It was such an honor.” (Note she didn’t use the contraction “it’s”. The girl is trying.)

Boots and jeans are the order of [...]

I was pleasantly surprised to receive a copy of International Gymnast magazine today, thanks to my roommate, who knows that I am “obsessed with gymnastics”. The issue I received was the Stuttgart Worlds edition. Although all the text in the magazine was old news to me, I was quite taken with some of the photographs.
There’s [...]
