Ivana Hong Article in which everyone is pissy

More information on the article, and commentary by Blythe.
Shergymrag notes rightly that Ivana and her family were looking for a top-flight program to nurture Ivana’s Olympic dreams, and GAGE had sent two gymnasts to Athens. Also, it’s been noted that Ivana’s mother is a Crazy Asian Mom who is pushy. Boy do I know how [...]

You’ll notice that I’ve linked to a Romanian gymnastics blog on the side; I am very glad that it exists, as it has some really interesting pictures and videos that I couldn’t have found on my own.
Recently there was an televised ceremony honoring Romanian gymnasts; featuring Nadia and former greats like Ecaterina Szabo and Daniela Silivaş, and [...]
If A-Sac turns to diving…

The Gymblog posted some videos of Fabian Hambuechen (GER) diving (WTF LOLOL at the blonde lady in the skimpy sailor suit who was interviewing him).
It has been noted before by one of my readers that some of the Olympic divers suggested that Alicia Sacramone go into diving as an alternative sport in case she ever wanted to come back [...]

The 2008 Glasgow Grand Prix is taking (or has taken) place.
The women’s field was “weak”, in the general opinion; but here is the floor exercise of Alina Kozich (UKR) who really deserved to have a better Olympics.

The Australian Gymnastics Blog gives us an update from Oregon State on their new recruit, Aussie Olympian Olivia Vivian. Quite funny, and heartwarming to see that ‘Liv’ is apparently adjusting marvelously.

Shantessa Pama retired for good?

I’ve only heard this today. Is it true?
The circumstances, whatever they may be, are saddening, given Shantessa Pama’s popularity among gymnastics fans (I was never a fan of her myself, but still). There was hope that she might return to elite competition after Beijing, or compete for an NCAA power.
Please post in the comments if you know anything about [...]
Ponor vs. Izbasa
Posted in Pictures and Montages, tagged catalina ponor, sandra izbasa on October 15, 2008 | 10 Comments »
Fashion-wise, as proposed by Flip Cub:
Sandra Izbasa (with Stela, Ferrari, some Ukrainians etc.)
Cătălina Ponor (partying after a competition)
Who pulls off the “out-of-competition look” better?
Ponor snipes at Izbasa

Apparently after Sandra Izbasa won her Olympic title, our dear Cata has been going around trying to belittle Sandra’s gold-medal performance.
You’d think Cata would be happy that Sandra kept up the Romanian legacy - but naaawwww.
What can you expect, when Ponor (according to the drama-mongering Romanian press) has harbored jealousy towards Izbasa since 2005, after the latter usurped her role [...]
