Verona van de Leur is Retired

That’s right; my own personal Gymnastics Ambassador is retired and will not go to Beijing. Excuse me while I go cry.

Verona was one of the Netherlands’ top talents in gymnastics, being Dutch national champion several times, but she never went to an Olympics. She had a shot this time around, but OMG DRAMA in the Dutch federation allegedly put her at a disadvantage behind Suzanne Harmes and Lichelle Wong; this pissed her off and she complained, and more drama ensued.

In any case, Suzanne Harmes (who came back after becoming a mother) will represent the Netherlands in the women’s competition.
