So I spent two hours of my life sitting in front of the computer screen, madly refreshing the Quick Hits page on International Gymnast. Of course I’ll watch NBC’s coverage tomorrow, or at least try my best to, but here are my thoughts so far:
- Sam P. is looking good.
- Alicia was disappointing on everything she did except vault. Dangit, come on Alicia!! I hope it’s just a matter of peaking at the right time…
- Chellsie never ceases to amaze me.
- It seems that Jana took out her balance beam mount that everybody hates and replaced it with something else. She got the fourth highest uneven bars score behind Nastia, Shawn, and Chellsie, if I am not mistaken.
- Shayla did not do her best tonight. Shame.
- Neither did Bridget, although International Gymnast gushed over her floor despite her going out of bounds twice.
- Mattie Larson is surely a beautiful gymnast; not really a surprise considering she’s the gym-mate of the glorious Sam Shapiro.
- Amber Trani crashed her Yurchenko 2.0. Poor girl, I am really wishing now that she had pulled a Priess…this can’t be good for her. Unless this is her way of sticking it to the Mrs.
- Nastia’s uneven bars dismount sucked again.
- Overall, the meet was another episode of Everybody Loves Shawn. The end.
It was actually another episode of over score Nastia from my friend who I just got off the phone with

besides bar…name reasons as too why u think that
Nastia has other issues on bars: froggy-legged giants.
Why are you so down on the Mrs.? She’s not the lady from 101 dalmatians.
Try her form on her double front. Her twisting with feet crossed. Her hand placements in her leaps. The bobbles she made on beam especially on her Nistor. The horrible dismount off beam.
The lack of height and distance on her vault.
I’ve got more if I felt like nit picking.
Did anyone watch the NBC coverage? Did anyone think it was weird that Bela was saying Jana was the surprise contender of the competition? More inside politics? I don’t love Jana, but I think if she’s going to lose a spot on the team, she should lose if fairly and squarely. Don’t low-ball the poor girl into early retirement.
I watched the NBC coverage. It’s true, Jana has been hitting her routines. Not beautiful, but solid. She’s not the USA model-esque darling, so her all around world silver medal is hardly acknowledged. I’m glad Bela gave her some praise.
In other news, did anyone see Kristen Maloney at the end? She was “leading” the men’s Olympic team onto the floor. I know Kristen’s from PA, but they couldn’t find an ex-men’s team member? haha
p.s. Chellsie’s floor was so absolutely insane. That Dos Santos is unreal.
“froggy-legged giants”
that’s funny
Froggy-legged giant? I’d like to see you do what she can!
She’s 5′ 3″ for christ’s sake.
