Other than injuries to the main players (which would be AWFUL), this is what I’m afraid of:
- That Jana Bieger will be made into this year’s “Natasha Kelley sacrificial lamb”, that the judges will score her so low that she will not have a snowball’s chance in hell to make the team despite anything she does–after being scored ridiculously high at Pacific Alliance. (Shades of Stick It LOL)
- That Shayla Worley will not compete and choose to petition to Trials instead. It worked for Annia Hatch, I think, but then Annia was an incomparable vaulter and Shayla’s asset, the uneven bars, is quickly being matched by Chellsie/Ashley/Bridget. (EDIT: Shayla was at Nationals podium training and reportedly looking well, so that’s good news.)
Now I need to go check the TV schedule for Saturday…let’s hope my local NBC station isn’t showing golf instead. Ugh.
I have to divide my time between The Belmont Stakes (horse racing) and gymnastics… sigh
Jana IMO will end up the alternate if Marta insists on putting Sam Peszek on this team.
It seems that Rebecca Bross will not compete at Nationals, as she is not on the start list on the USAG site. Does anyone have any info?
I just found out…she’s injured.
Just looked at the pictures from the USA Gymnastics website. Good to see the whole team again.
Looks like Jana kept her somewhat-hated quasi-planche beam mount. Ick. She could do so much better.
In other news, does anyone know where Becca Bross is? I’m assuming she’s hurt, but I haven’t heard anything about it…
Sad, considering she almost swept the Junior Nationals last year…
Bross broke her foot.
