University of Utah gymnast and German Olympic hopeful Daria Bijak sustained a knee injury at the German Olympic Trials. Crap. Her Olympic chances seem to be in jeopardy; no idea on what effect it may have on her NCAA season next year.
A quick glance at the German results for the Olympic qualification trials (which you can download here at the German live ticker site, under 18:14 OFFIZIELLES ERGEBNIS MEHRKAMPF FRAUEN) shows that Oksana Chusovitina swept the all-around competition, followed by Marie-Sophie Hindermann, Kim Bui, Katja Abel, and Joeline Moebius. Anja Brinker only competed uneven bars.
P.S. Polish 101 has a neat summary of the US Classics, which none of the big names (Johnson, Liukin, Memmel, Sacramone etc.) attended…it includes BONUS COMMENTARY on (gasp!) the Mrs. I recognize some names: Corrie Lothrop, Randy Stageberg, Christa Tanella, Catherine Nguyen (who needs to get her s#!t together, seriously). The winner was Ashley Stott, who I’ve never heard of before.
