European Championships Team Final Scores
April 5, 2008 by northernriver
Individual scores for each team and every competitor in Team Finals can be found here:
FIG is stupid–they credited Ana-Maria Tămârjan as Adriana Anamaria Tamarjan…Adriana is Ana-Maria’s TWIN SISTER. Or maybe the Romanian delegation had a brain fart when they listed Ana-Maria in the competition. Huh.
Because of this, Ana-Maria is called “Adriana” in the following article:
Izbasa feels weight lift after team win: In which Sandra (bless her) celebrates the team win with a soft drink.
Romanian article and video about the team victory: In which we hear a rather sputtery version of the Romanian national anthem, and head coach Nicolae Forminte carries the injured Cerasela Pătraşcu around on his back after the medal ceremony (Cerasela was able to join her teammates on the podium, yay).
As was said before, the French won the team bronze medal, which is a first for them. Unfortunately, Isabelle Severino, unlike Patrascu, could not join her teammates on the medal podium because she was in Paris for treatment of her injury.
Videos are slowly cropping up on Youtube. One of the most popular (especially among the gymnastics snobs) is Anna Pavlova’s floor exercise:

Anna is a lovely gymnast, but…I don’t see why people are saying OMG THIS IS THE MOST ARTISTIC ROUTINE IN LIKE FOREVER!!
And Anna’s hair is in cornrows…since when did she go out for NCAA, I’d like to know?
Now from the other stuff I’ve seen so far–I haven’t yet seen the team finals in its entirety–I am VERY impressed with Becky Downie (GBR).

Even though my sentimental favorite on the Brit team is Marissa King…props to Miss Downie. Good work.
And you probably all know by now that Vanessa Ferrari’s new floor music is from the Fifth Element. While Ferrari’s skills have indeed matured (to quote BBC commentator Christine Still, one of my favorites) I didn’t pay very good attention because I was laughing so hard at her music. Ha ha!
And that’s all my talk. I am psyched for Event Finals…GO SANDRA!
