I hate April Fool’s Day…

And I bet Sarah Shire doesn’t like it too much either…
Blythe at the Gymblog reports on the University of Utah’s school newspaper’s prank article about the former Ute, who left the team and returned to Missouri some time ago. Quite a hullabaloo about that, about the same amount when Nicole Harris up and left ASU in the middle of the season this past month.
Now April Fool’s Day, if you’ll excuse my saying so, has been nothing but a way to find out who the real fools are–the fools being the people who pull such insensitive pranks.
You might say, “All they did was call her an Oompa-Loompa! What’s so bad about that?”
It would have been more acceptable, funny even, if they’d lampooned one of their own Utes. Like if they said, “Kristina Baskett and Nina Kim discovered that Ashley Postell is an Oompa-Loompa!” people would be laughing instead of getting all riled up. Whatever the relationship between Sarah and the Utah team is, it was a dreadful faux pas to lampoon Sarah, who became something of a sore point after she left Utah for her personal reasons which are really nobody’s business.
The people who wrote this crap article about Sarah and approved it for publication should be shot ashamed. (Word is on the street that Sarah’s been having a crap day because of this. God.)

April Fool prank or not, I imagine the writers at that school newspaper are reaping the whirlwind of publishing potentially libelous material. Thanks for jumping on this. These “Onion” knockoff articles are in bad taste, all-around.
Disgusting! thats all i have to say.
