UGA Wins SEC and What-Could’ve-Been
March 31, 2008 by northernriver
Right-ho…I’ll post my thoughts on the Pacific Alliance event finals later. Right now, here are the results of the SEC Championships, which took place some time ago:
1. Georgia 197.350
2. Alabama 197.325
2. Florida 197.325
4. LSU 196.500
5. Auburn 196.100
6. Arkansas 194.650
7. Kentucky 194.025
Yes, Alabama and Florida tied.
The reason why I post this is to show that the SEC basically OWNS the top NCAA women’s gymnastics teams in the whole country. All the teams I have listed above are in the top 20 in the nation. (The closest thing I have to a top 20 school where I live is Stanford.)
Another thing worthy of note is that UGA’s margin of victory could have been wider, or that Alabama might very well have won the competition, if only they’d had their star Olympians. With Courtney Kupets, UGA might’ve won by more than 0.025. With Terin Humphrey, Alabama could have bested UGA’s uneven bars score and come out on top.
And, um, yay for Florida. (Mel Sinclair and her Crazy Dance for the win…)
