Nastia owns all at Pacific Alliance

Congratulations Nastia!

Running by team totals, the USA wins the team competition, with Canada and China behind.

Top 3 All-Around Finishers

Nastia Liukin
Vault: 15.000 (she did a Yurchenko 1.5…it must have been very nice, like Ponor’s)
Uneven Bars: 16.650 (And Nastia answers He Kexin’s challenge…)
Balance Beam: 16.400 (International Gymnast calls Nastia’s “new” skill the Nistor, ha ha!)
Floor Exercise: 14.800 (She went out of bounds. Ouch.)

Jana Bieger
Vault: 15.050
Uneven Bars: 15.025
Balance Beam: 15.050
Floor Exercise: 14.800 (with “improved choreography”, ha ha ha)

Dasha Joura
Vault: 13.950 (Yurchenko 1.0…which was likely NOT what she wanted to do! Poor Dasha!)
Uneven Bars: 15.000 (WTF why?)
Balance Beam: 15.150
Floor Exercise: 15.100

But I think the most beautiful routine of all, from what I saw of the Quick Hits, was Sam Shapiro’s balance beam routine. Just reading the description makes my heart swell with love and happiness:

Stag handstand lower to Eremia hold. Side aerial. Switch leap back tuck, sheep jump. Works so high on her toes. Frot (sic) aerial. Exquiste (sic) form. Ff layout. Switch Yang Bo. Full turn with leg up, slight [balance] check. Split jump, straddle jump. Front tuck. Double pike with a step back. Gorgeous gymnast.

Oh I’ve missed the Eremia hold…yes, it was originated by Romania’s Alexandra Eremia:

Not to mention Eremia was a real hottie back in 2003-2004.

But this is about Sam Shapiro. Yes. Hopefully she will continue to grace the international stage with her presence, unlike Shantessa Pama, who…well…hasn’t (not her fault, of course).

Ugh, I loved Shantessa. What happened to her? I know she was hurt last year, but what now? I’ve heard nothing about her for like 6 months. I miss her.

Oh, nm it is fairly new! Thanks for pointing me to that. I was thinking it was the interview on gymnasttv or whatever that site is.
