Pacific Alliance Yay!
March 21, 2008 by northernriver
For some reason they’re calling this the Pacific Rim something-or-other. Oh well.
All right people. Here’s the word on the street on who’s going:
Seniors
Jana Bieger (yay!)
Darlene Hill
Nastia Liukin (eh?!)
WHAT NO CHELLSIE.
Apparently Darlene’s gotten another assignment. That’s more than can be said for poor Lou Stack-Eaton and Amber Trani. But then both of them are injured. (The Mrs. is just doing her job I guess.)
Juniors
Rebecca Bross
Sam Shapiro
Jordyn Wieber Rebecca Clark
EDIT: Jordyn rolled her ankle recently; as a precaution, she pulled out and Rebecca Clark took her place.
Gosh, Martha K. really wants to build up the juniors. I suppose she foresees turning Bross/Shapiro/Wieber into 2009’s version of Liukin/Memmel/Sacramone.
More gossip, this time on Ivana Hong: Word on the street is that she did very well at the last training camp, especially with her uneven bars routine and her famed Yurchenko 2.0 twist. Well done Ivie!
EDIT: Oh oh! They changed the Russian roster for Pacific Alliance! It’s now going to be Lyudmila Yezhova Grebenkova with two ladies I’ve never heard of before: Anna Myzdrikova and Alena Zmeu.
Geralen I think is just going for NCAA now, and Amber dropped back to level 10. So that’s probably why they haven’t gotten any assignments. Jana will really have to show something here to be still in the running for Beijing. Darlene is awesome and I can’t wait to see if she has improved!!!
Does anyone know what the deal is with Chellsie??
Im glad that Jana is getting another shot to prove herself, and that Ivana had a good camp.
Any word on how Shayla was at camp?
As a gigantic fan of your blog, I thought I’d contribute at least a smidgen:
Anna Myrikova
