They turn into leo-thongs and you can see the gymnasts underwear. I wish the leotards were cut more like how the Chinese gymnasts have theirs (funnily enough, it was the Chinese WAG team that got the penalty back in 1992 for their leotards for being the way most gymnasts' are now). At our JO/Prep Opt and before that, power tumbling (JO, not Elite) meets if our underwear were showing we had to take them off. We learned REAL quick to wear some that either didn't stick out, or matching briefs. I’m surprised that at international meets you can SEE their underwear.
