OMG Allyse Ishino!
January 22, 2008 by northernriver
I was ecstatic to find videos of 2004 Olympic alternate Allyse Ishino competing this month. I was not happy when Allyse was sidelined because of blood clots in her lungs, but now she’s raring to go, and hopefully she’ll give Stanford a big boost this year.
Allyse was one of my sentimental favorites leading up to 2004 Athens, and, as Aleksas says, her rise to the top in the 2003-2004 period was “meteoric”. She was freakin’ awesome, and she still is.
Here’s Allyse on beam earlier this month, at Stanford vs. Arizona:
I’m a little sad that she took out her old elite difficulty. Oh well, what the hell, I still love her work. Notice Allyse’s teammates calling her ‘Weedge’, Tabitha’s old nickname for her. Squeal.
Allyse on bars, at the same meet:
Am loving her double layout.
It would be a DREAM for me if Allyse could contend for the NCAA bars title; if Terin doesn’t get it, I want Allyse to get it. Ho ho.
