I hope you all had a nice Christmas holiday. Here’s some stuff that happened in the gymnastics world while I was being lazy and not blogging about them:
Olympic gold medalist Cătălina Ponor (ROM) announced her retirement after coming back to help the Romanian team, which is unfortunately still floundering in the post Octavian Belu/Mariana Bitang era. [...]

NBCOlympics.com interviewed Chellsie and Bridget on their experiences in Beijing.

Because I heart her, even if she is an Interior Design major now (or something like that).
Inside Gymnastics Magazine recently interviewed Courtney, and it’s on their website.
I did have some thoughts about [trying for 2008 Beijing]. I didn’t know much about the Code or anything so I researched some information and looked into it. Right [...]
She is not going.

The Kupets Comeback ends here. (For now.)
The Gym Dogs have made it official–Courtney Kupets will NOT try for Beijing.
I expected this, but I’m very sad, all the same. She could’ve been a real asset for the team.
Last Tidbit of Test Event Yay-ness

Cheng Fei won the balance beam event finals at the Test Event. (What?!) Unfortunately for her, this just might be the only time she gets first place on balance beam. Not when some of her own teammates are better than her at it (i.e., Li Shanshan).
Lauren Mitchell (AUS) got second place. Apparently she is copying [...]
