Yet another Gym Dog…

The University of Georgia has got another USA National team member to join their already star-studded women’s gymnastic team. Bah.
Blythe at the Gymblog reported that Amber Trani, 2007 Pan American Games team member (she was the silver medalist on vault there), has stated her intent to join the Dawgs, way down in Egypt land–I mean, Georgia.

Amber (far left) on the podium for vault event finals, with Brazilian superstar Jade Barbosa and Lais Souza (BRA).
I don’t know much about her, because NBC was not nice enough to give us some footage of her during nationals. I do know that Amber is a vault (and floor) specialist, like Sacramone–in fact she intended to challenge Sac for the Nationals vault title this year, but apparently injured herself on one of her vaults. Hm. You can blame that on “the Mrs”, I guess.
Now Amber’s double-twisting Yurchenko, sorry to say, isn’t very stellar. At Pan Ams, she looked kind of like Steliana Nistor (ROM) on take-off during that Yurchenko…and that my friend is NOT A GOOD THING.
Personally, I think Amber will probably end up being a better (and happier) gymnast at Georgia than she ever was at the Parkettes, even if Suzanne Yoculan is retiring soon. Just look at Kristen Maloney and what happened to her after she went to UCLA.
Always fun to hate the Mrs.
Who’s the Mrs.? What happened to Maloney when she went to UCLA?
who’s the mrs?
The “Mrs.” is Donna Strauss, coach at the Parkettes gymnastics club in Pennsylvania. Parkettes gymnasts have a tendency to be constantly injured and/or very inconsistent and the Mrs. herself is not always smiled upon, to put it delicately.
