It was a good competition overall for Great Britain.
Beth Tweddle, although she screwed up her uneven bars dismount, rallied to win the floor exercise with a 14.550. Her Brit teammate Marissa King won vault with a 14.237…either the judging was super harsh, or none these gals are in the same class as Cheng and Sacramone, because no one broke 15.
Steliana Nistor (ROM) won uneven bars with a 15.200. I’m actually growing fond of Stela, as she’s called. These Cup events are no doubt giving her confidence and experience in one go.
As for the USA…Darlene Hill finished 4th on uneven bars with a score of 14.675, but apparently she had the highest execution score (B-score) of all the finalists. Good for her.
Natasha Kelley was 5th on balance beam with a score of 14.875.
2003 World Champion Fan Ye (CHN) was 4th on her signature event, balance beam, with a 15.025. Her teammate Zhou Zhuoru finished 7th on both beam and floor with 14.800 and 13.075, respectively.
Lyudmila Ezhova Grebenkova (RUS) won balance beam (15.475).
