Everyone knows that Nastia Liukin is basically gymnastics royalty, if one can even conceive of such a thing, being the daughter of Olympic and world champions.
Now Nastia might be the most successful child of former world gymnastic champions, but she’s certainly not the first to try to follow her parents’ footsteps.
While poking around in International Gymnast’s archives, I learned that former USA elite gymnast (and current UCLA gymnast) Anna Li is the daughter of Li Yuejiu, 1981 world champion on men’s floor exercise and 1984 Olympics team silver medalist, and Wu Jiani, 1981 world bronze medalist on beam and 1984 Olympics team bronze medalist. Anna wasn’t as internationally successful as her parents, but oh well.
